What’s Work & Worth?
Work & Worth is a newsletter focused on:
reorienting our relationship to work
separating our worth from work
remembering what has brought us to this point in late-stage capitalism
reimagining our lives without our collective obsession with work
remaking the world with this newfound information (or rather messy discussions about this idea)
Who am I?
My name is Cristin Downs, and I’m a possibilitarian. Also an executive coach, theatrical thinker, and producer.
I’m an activator and technician, a storyteller and truth speaker, a connector and bridge builder. I have an aversion to bullshit, am incredibly transparent and authentic, and have absolutely zero poker face. I believe we are not judged by what we say or think but by what we do, and I am energized by possibility. I also believe, as the great Desiree Adaway always says, that we get free together. We decide what’s next.
On a less intense note, I’m a bookworm (mysteries and YA are my faves), newsie, pizza / wine / ice cream / brunch lover, budding comedian (self-proclaimed), and former theatre professional with a decade + in the wings. It should be noted that I believe expletives are illustrative and effective. Mama to a tiny mischief maker, I hold down the fort in New York with my husband Mike and a small pack of furry friends.
What’s going to happen here?
My current plan is that this newsletter will be a place for more in-depth content – essays, podcast episodes, interviews, and what I call “practical tactics” – how to content.
Every subscriber gets access to a weekly post, monthly events, a monthly book club, and community conversation.
I’ll also be housing my membership here, which will include access to the work & worth resources I create. (So far, it will be my short course on changing your relationship with your phone, workbook on delegating for small business owners, a “Plan for Your Layoff” checklist and resource bank, and a planner to map out your career change.) Founding members will receive special “ask me anything” and coaching sessions.
If you’d like to learn more about working with me, check out my coaching packages and workshops here.
How do I stay up to date with your work?
Subscribe and you’ll know! New newsletters will come to your inbox. This will be the most up-to-date place for me and my work.
We’d love for you to join us.
Our community members are creative, original thinkers who recognize that they are inherently worthy just as they are. They are full of intellectual curiosity, they are strong and capable leaders, and they want to make the world a better place through their work, community service, and family. But they also recognize that life is more than work and strive to rest and have fun too.
We as a community created a values statement, which you can find here. If our values feel good to you too, subscribe.
